Key Responsibilities
- Translate a variety of documents (e.g., technical, legal, marketing, medical, general) accurately and efficiently from source to target language.
- Ensure translations maintain the original meaning, context, tone, and style.
- Conduct thorough research to ensure linguistic accuracy and cultural appropriateness.
- Adhere strictly to client-specific glossaries, style guides, and translation memory guidelines.
- Utilize Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools effectively to maintain consistency and efficiency.
- Perform self-review and proofreading of translated content to eliminate grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors.
- Manage multiple translation projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
- Communicate proactively with project managers regarding project progress, challenges, and queries.
- Maintain confidentiality and data security for all client-related information.
Required Skills
- Native-level fluency in at least one South African official language and/or a major international language (e.g., French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin).
- Exceptional command of English (written and verbal).
- Proven translation experience (minimum 2 years professional experience).
- Proficiency in using CAT tools (e.g., Trados Studio, MemoQ, Wordfast, Smartcat).
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong understanding of cultural nuances and linguistic subtleties.
