Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our dynamic team at Builders Warehouse in Beacon Bay. In this essential role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement, stacking, and organization of various building materials and products within our busy warehouse and yard. This unique hybrid role combines essential on-site operational duties with the flexibility for occasional remote administrative tasks or virtual team coordination, reflecting our commitment to modern work practices and employee well-being. While your primary responsibilities will be performed on-site, contributing to the seamless flow of goods, you will also engage in tasks like digital inventory reporting, virtual team meetings, or online training from a remote location as required. Key Responsibilities
- Operate various types of forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck, pallet jack) safely and efficiently to load, unload, stack, and move materials and products.
- Perform daily pre-shift inspections of equipment, completing all necessary documentation and reporting any defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Accurately pick and prepare customer orders, ensuring items match specifications and quantities.
- Assist with the receiving, checking, and storage of incoming goods, verifying against delivery notes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the warehouse and yard, adhering strictly to all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Conduct regular stock takes, cycle counts, and assist in maintaining precise inventory records.
- Collaborate effectively with warehouse staff, sales teams, and management to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
- Participate in virtual team meetings, complete remote administrative reporting, or engage in online training modules as part of the hybrid work model.
- Assist with other general warehouse duties as required to support overall operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Valid and current Forklift Operator license/certification (e.g., Counterbalance, Reach Truck)
- Minimum of 2 years proven experience operating forklifts in a fast-paced warehouse or retail distribution environment.
- Strong understanding and adherence to warehouse safety procedures and regulations.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and perform tasks requiring standing, bending, and reaching.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling and counting inventory.
- Basic computer literacy for logging data, accessing inventory systems, and participating in virtual communications.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Experience operating multiple types of forklifts (e.g., deep reach, order picker).
- Familiarity with inventory management software (e.g., SAP, WMS).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous experience in a retail or building materials environment.
