Job Description
As a Food Safety Quality Assurance Officer at Universal Robina Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in upholding our unwavering commitment to producing safe, high-quality food products that consistently meet both stringent regulatory standards and the evolving expectations of our discerning consumers. You will be instrumental in the meticulous implementation, diligent monitoring, and continuous improvement of our robust food safety and quality management systems across our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. This critical position demands a proactive individual with a keen eye for granular detail, a profound understanding of foundational food safety principles, and the exemplary ability to work collaboratively and effectively within our dynamic, fast-paced production environment.
Your primary focus will be to ensure strict and consistent adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and all other relevant local and international food safety regulations and industry best practices. You will be responsible for conducting regular, thorough inspections, comprehensive audits, and detailed analyses to proactively identify potential hazards, meticulously assess risks, and implement highly effective control measures. This role extends beyond mere compliance; it’s about actively fostering a vibrant culture of food safety excellence where every team member understands and embraces their indispensable role in protecting our consumers’ health and trust. You will be deeply involved in investigating all non-conformances, performing rigorous root cause analysis, and driving timely and effective corrective and preventive actions. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality assurance programs, including HACCP, GMP, SSOPs, and allergen control programs.
- Conduct regular internal audits and inspections of manufacturing facilities to ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and international food safety standards (e.g., ISO 22000, FSSC 22000).
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and ensure all food safety parameters are met during production.
- Investigate food safety incidents, customer complaints, and non-conformances, conducting root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage and maintain accurate documentation and records related to food safety, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide training and guidance to production staff on food safety practices, hygiene, and quality procedures.
- Collaborate with production, R&D, and supply chain teams to address quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in external audits by regulatory bodies and third-party certification organizations.
- Stay updated on new food safety regulations, industry trends, and best practices.
- Perform microbiological, chemical, and physical analysis of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods as needed.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principles and implementation.
- Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other food safety standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis.
- Exceptional attention to detail and observational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Filipino.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Food Safety, Quality Assurance, or Quality Control within the food manufacturing industry.
- HACCP certification or other relevant food safety certifications.
- Experience with ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, or similar quality management systems.
- Experience in a large-scale food production environment.
