Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods, equipment, or personnel as per scheduled routes and instructions.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal working condition and report any defects promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations to ensure a clean driving record and prevent accidents.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, delivery times, and any incidents encountered during transit.
- Ensure the security and proper handling of all transported items, preventing damage or loss.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status, potential delays, or vehicle issues.
- Assist with loading and unloading goods as required, ensuring proper weight distribution and securing of cargo.
- Keep the company vehicle clean and tidy, reflecting professionalism.
- Plan efficient routes to minimize travel time and fuel costs while adhering to delivery schedules.
Required Skills
- Valid Code 10 (or EC1) South African Driver's License
- Valid Public Driving Permit (PDP)
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience
- Clean driving record with no major endorsements or accidents
- Excellent knowledge of Westville and surrounding KwaZulu-Natal areas
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques
