Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Financial Controller to join our dynamic finance team in Lagos. This critical role reports directly to the Group Chief Financial Officer and will be instrumental in overseeing the financial operations of key business units within the Dangote Group. The Financial Controller will be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, ensuring compliance with IFRS and local regulatory requirements, and driving robust financial controls. This position requires a strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record in managing complex financial environments within a large-scale organization. Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance and provide recommendations to senior management.
- Manage and oversee the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance.
- Oversee cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting processes across various business units.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, including performance management, coaching, and professional development.
- Collaborate with other departments to support strategic initiatives and operational efficiencies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role, preferably within a large industrial or manufacturing group.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including IFRS.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills (e.g., SAP, Oracle ERP).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and professional judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CIMA.
- Master's degree in Finance or Business Administration (MBA).
- Experience in a multinational corporation or a publicly traded company.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and regulations.
