Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Factory Supervisor to join our production team in Phoenix, KwaZulu-Natal. As a Factory Supervisor, you will be a pivotal leader on the manufacturing floor, responsible for overseeing daily production operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are consistently met. You will lead a team of dedicated production staff, providing guidance, training, and support to foster a high-performance culture. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of production personnel, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and according to schedule.
- Monitor production processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize workflow and increase productivity.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality control standards and company specifications for all manufactured products.
- Promote and enforce all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and machinery, coordinating with maintenance for timely repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Provide ongoing training, coaching, and performance feedback to team members, fostering skill development and employee engagement.
- Manage raw material inventory and finished goods, working closely with the planning department to ensure material availability.
- Prepare daily production reports, analyze performance data, and report on key metrics to management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for process optimization and implementing lean manufacturing principles.
- Handle minor disciplinary issues and conflict resolution within the team, escalating complex issues to HR or senior management when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or production environment (minimum 3 years).
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse workforce.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in production planning and resource allocation.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Computer literacy, including experience with MS Office Suite and production management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Production Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- First Aid and Forklift operator certification.
- Knowledge of packaging industry standards and processes.
