Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming materials, verifying quantities against purchase orders and ensuring their integrity.
- Safely move materials to designated storage areas using appropriate manual and powered equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks), with potential for forklift training.
- Organize and maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring proper labelling, rotation, and accessibility of stock.
- Pick and stage materials for production lines, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to meet manufacturing schedules and avoid delays.
- Prepare finished goods for shipment, including packaging, labelling, wrapping, and efficiently loading onto trucks.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with comprehensive inventory reconciliation processes to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times, strictly adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Report any damaged materials, equipment malfunctions, or potential safety hazards immediately to supervision.
- Collaborate effectively and communicate clearly with production, quality control, and logistics teams to optimize overall material flow.
- Actively participate in ongoing training programs to enhance material handling skills, equipment operation proficiency, and safety awareness.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 25kg) regularly and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in counting, labelling, and recording information.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading instructions, labels, and conducting inventory counts.
- Excellent attendance record and a commitment to punctuality.
- A team player with good verbal communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Commitment to adhering strictly to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Willingness to learn new processes, operate new equipment, and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, factory, or general labour setting (even minimal or informal).
- Valid South African Driver's License.
- Familiarity with basic inventory management concepts or systems.
