Career.supersecrets is actively recruiting on behalf of a prominent manufacturing client in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, seeking a dedicated Factory Driver. This pivotal role involves the safe and efficient transportation of goods, materials, and finished products within the factory premises and to designated local delivery points. We are looking for an individual who is meticulous, reliable, and possesses a strong understanding of logistics and warehouse operations. You will operate various factory vehicles, including forklifts and delivery vans, playing a crucial role in maintaining the smooth flow of production and distribution. This position demands a proactive approach, attention to detail, and a commitment to teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and company delivery vehicles safely and efficiently within factory grounds and for local deliveries.
- Load and unload goods, materials, and finished products, ensuring proper handling and securing of items.
- Transport materials to and from production lines, storage areas, and dispatch points as required.
- Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of goods moved, delivery logs, and vehicle maintenance.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and operational procedures.
- Assist with general warehouse duties, including organising stock and maintaining a clean work environment.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, production teams, and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure all deliveries are made on time and in good condition.
Required Skills
- Valid South African Code 08 (B) or Code 10 (C1) driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in a factory or warehouse setting.
- Proficiency in operating forklifts (valid forklift license/certificate is essential).
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and material handling procedures.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid and Fire Fighting certification.
- Experience with inventory management systems.
- Familiarity with the Mossel Bay area and local delivery routes.
- Additional endorsements for heavy-duty vehicles (e.g., Code 14) would be an advantage.
