Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Welder to join our team, contributing to the fabrication and repair of agricultural machinery and structural components. As an integral part of our engineering and maintenance division, you will be responsible for executing diverse welding tasks with precision and adherence to the highest safety and quality standards. This role requires an individual with a strong understanding of various welding techniques, material properties, and blueprint interpretation. You will work on critical projects that directly impact the efficiency and reliability of agricultural operations, playing a crucial role in supporting our farming community. The successful candidate will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of equipment essential to our clients’ success.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform various welding processes including MIG, TIG, and Arc welding on different metals (steel, stainless steel, aluminum) according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine project requirements and dimensions.
- Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures and components for agricultural machinery and equipment.
- Inspect finished welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications, using appropriate measuring tools.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment, ensuring proper functionality and performing routine safety checks.
- Identify and rectify welding defects, adjusting techniques as necessary to achieve optimal results.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other team members to ensure project completion within deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and materials are stored correctly.
- Assist in the training and mentorship of junior welders or apprentices as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Welder, particularly in a fabrication or agricultural machinery repair environment.
- Proficiency in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Arc (SMAW) welding techniques.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Strong knowledge of metal properties and welding consumables.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Commitment to safety procedures and practices.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade test certificate or NQF Level 3/4 qualification in Welding or Metal Fabrication.
- Experience with plasma cutting and oxy-acetylene cutting.
- Familiarity with agricultural equipment and machinery.
- Forklift operator certificate.
- Valid driver's license.
