Bryanston Veterinary Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Veterinarian to join our dynamic and dedicated team in Johannesburg. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough medical examinations and accurate diagnoses of animal illnesses and injuries.
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans, including medication, surgery, and therapy.
- Perform various surgical procedures, including routine spays/neuters and more complex soft tissue surgeries.
- Interpret diagnostic imaging (X-rays, ultrasound) and laboratory results.
- Provide emergency and critical care to patients as needed.
- Administer vaccinations and advise on preventative care, nutrition, and behavior.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with pet owners regarding diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment options.
- Collaborate with veterinary nurses and support staff to ensure optimal patient care.
- Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine through continuous professional development.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent qualification.
- Registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC).
- Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in small animal practice.
- Proven surgical and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle emergency situations.
- Proficiency in veterinary practice management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced diagnostic imaging techniques (e.g., echocardiography, endoscopy).
- Special interest or certification in a specific area of veterinary medicine (e.g., internal medicine, dentistry, ophthalmology).
- Experience in mentorship or training junior veterinary staff.
- Fluency in additional South African languages.
