Job Description
Rubis Energy Kenya is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Truck Driver to join our logistics team in Lodwar. As a Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of petroleum products to various destinations within Lodwar and the surrounding regions, adhering strictly to company policies, national traffic laws, and safety regulations. This role requires a meticulous individual with a strong commitment to road safety, vehicle maintenance, and timely deliveries. You will be instrumental in ensuring the continuous supply chain, directly contributing to our operational success and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy commercial vehicles (e.g., fuel tankers) for the transportation of petroleum products.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and national transportation regulations, especially those pertaining to hazardous materials.
- Perform comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking tires, brakes, fluid levels, and lighting, documenting any defects or maintenance needs.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to designated locations, planning routes to optimize efficiency and minimize delays.
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, delivery records, and any incidents encountered.
- Report any accidents, incidents, vehicle breakdowns, or safety hazards immediately to the logistics supervisor and relevant authorities.
- Ensure the security of cargo during transit and upon delivery, following all security protocols.
- Assist with loading and unloading products when necessary, ensuring proper handling and adherence to safety procedures for hazardous materials.
- Maintain cleanliness and perform basic maintenance of the assigned vehicle to ensure it is always in optimal operating condition.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, supervisors, customers, and other team members.
- Participate in regular safety training, defensive driving courses, and refreshers as required by the company and industry standards.
Required Skills
- Valid Class BCE, CE, or G driving license (Heavy Commercial Vehicle) with a clean and excellent driving record.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a truck driver, specifically with heavy goods vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of national traffic laws, transportation regulations, and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with Lodwar and surrounding regional road networks, including knowledge of challenging terrains.
- Ability to perform thorough vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to follow instructions precisely.
- High level of responsibility, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety.
- Physical fitness to handle long hours of driving, varying weather conditions, and potential physical demands of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in transporting hazardous materials or fuel products, particularly with tanker operations.
- Defensive driving certification and/or advanced driver training.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and troubleshooting common heavy vehicle issues.
- First Aid and Fire Fighting training, especially relevant for hazardous materials transport.
- Secondary school education (KCSE or equivalent).
