Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive roof installations, repairs, and maintenance across various roofing types including pitched (slate, tile), flat (felt, EPDM, GRP), and lead work.
- Conduct thorough roof inspections to identify damage, leaks, and potential issues, providing accurate assessments and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Measure, cut, and fit roofing materials precisely, ensuring proper sealing and secure installation according to manufacturer specifications and building codes.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and best practices, especially when working at heights and operating machinery.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other trades on site to ensure project timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with clients, providing updates on project progress and addressing any concerns or questions.
- Ensure the work area is kept clean, tidy, and safe throughout the project duration, and that all waste materials are disposed of correctly.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials required and installation procedures.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) proven experience as a Roofer or in a similar skilled trade role.
- Demonstrable expertise in various roofing systems and materials (e.g., slate, tile, felt, lead work, single-ply membranes).
- Strong understanding of roofing principles, building codes, and comprehensive safety procedures.
- Ability to work confidently and safely at heights, often in challenging weather conditions.
- Excellent physical stamina, strength, and dexterity to handle materials and tools.
- Keen eye for detail and unwavering commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Effective communication and strong teamwork skills.
- Valid UK driving license and the ability to travel to various job sites across London.
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to unforeseen challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Roofing occupations or equivalent City & Guilds qualification.
- Valid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Up-to-date First Aid certification.
- Experience with specialist roofing techniques or materials (e.g., green roofs, liquid roofing systems, solar panel integration).
- Working at Height certification.
