Key Responsibilities
- Perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, de-shedding, hair cutting, styling, and nail trimming for various dog and cat breeds.
- Assess pet's coat, skin, and overall condition to recommend appropriate grooming services and identify any potential health concerns to be reported to owners.
- Consult with pet owners to understand their grooming preferences, pet's temperament, and any specific needs or instructions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic grooming salon, sterilizing tools and equipment regularly.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all animals during the grooming process, employing humane handling techniques.
- Administer basic pet first aid when necessary and be knowledgeable in handling anxious or aggressive animals.
- Educate pet owners on proper coat maintenance, skin care, and at-home grooming techniques.
- Manage appointment schedules and maintain accurate records of services performed and client preferences.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment, assisting colleagues when needed.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of professional pet grooming experience (dogs and cats).
- Proven proficiency in a wide range of grooming styles and breed-specific cuts.
- Excellent animal handling skills, demonstrating patience, compassion, and the ability to work with various temperaments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective client consultation.
- Thorough understanding of pet anatomy, skin and coat types, and common dermatological conditions.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy animals, and perform repetitive tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional grooming certification from a recognized institution.
- Knowledge of pet nutrition and additional pet care services.
- Experience with grooming exotic pets (e.g., rabbits, guinea pigs).
