Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Full-Time Optometrist to join our thriving practice at Simi Valley Optometric. As an Optometrist with us, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye health and vision examinations, diagnosing and treating various ocular conditions, prescribing corrective lenses, and collaborating with our skilled support staff to ensure a seamless patient experience.

You will manage a diverse patient base, ranging from pediatric to geriatric, performing refractions, contact lens fittings, and managing conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations for patients of all ages, including refractions, visual acuity tests, and binocular vision assessments.
- Diagnose, treat, and manage ocular diseases and conditions, including glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
- Prescribe and fit contact lenses, ensuring optimal comfort and vision.
- Prescribe and dispense eyeglasses, collaborating with opticians to ensure proper fit and selection.
- Educate patients on proper eye care, contact lens handling, and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records using our electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals for co-management of complex cases.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with advancements in optometry.
- Supervise and mentor optical support staff as needed.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid and unrestricted California Optometry license.
- DEA registration (or eligible to obtain).
- Certification in Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA) and Glaucoma Treatment (TLG).
- Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and treating ocular diseases.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, preferably RevolutionEHR.
- Experience fitting specialty contact lenses (e.g., scleral lenses).
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English) is a plus.
- Prior experience in a private practice setting.
