Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mason to join our dynamic construction team in Mission San Jose, Fremont. As an Experienced Mason, you will play a crucial role in bringing our architectural visions to life, working on a diverse range of projects from commercial complexes to industrial facilities. Your expertise in laying brick, stone, and concrete blocks will be essential in creating durable, aesthetically pleasing, and structurally sound components of our buildings. We are looking for an individual with a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of building codes and safety regulations, and a proven track record of delivering superior masonry work. This role requires precision, physical stamina, and the ability to interpret blueprints and specifications accurately. You will be responsible for preparing surfaces, mixing mortar, cutting materials, and ensuring the highest standards of quality control on every task. Key Responsibilities
- Lay bricks, stone, concrete blocks, and other pre-cut structural units in mortar to construct walls, partitions, arches, fireplaces, and other structures.
- Prepare and clean surfaces for masonry work, ensuring proper adhesion and finish.
- Mix mortar, grout, and other compounds according to specifications and consistency requirements.
- Cut and trim masonry materials to specified sizes using hand and power tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout, materials, and procedures.
- Operate various hand and power tools safely and effectively, including trowels, levels, chisels, saws, and grinders.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding and other temporary structures as needed, ensuring safety compliance.
- Inspect finished masonry work for quality, consistency, and adherence to building codes and project standards.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant OSHA regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction team members, including carpenters, laborers, and project managers.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience as a professional Mason.
- Proficiency in laying various masonry units (brick, block, stone, pre-cast).
- Expertise in mortar mixing, pointing, and tooling techniques.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Excellent knowledge of construction methods, materials, and tools specific to masonry.
- Demonstrated understanding and adherence to safety protocols and practices on construction sites.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform strenuous tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working at heights.
- Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with specialized masonry techniques such as arch construction or decorative work.
- Ability to operate forklifts or other material handling equipment (certification a plus).
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
