We are searching for highly skilled and dependable Long-Haul Truck Drivers to join their dynamic team, tackling extensive long-distance routes primarily within Rwanda and potentially across East Africa. Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty trucks and articulated vehicles for long-distance transportation of goods across designated routes.
- Safely load, unload, and secure cargo, ensuring compliance with weight limits and safety protocols.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including tires, lights, brakes, and other critical systems.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logbooks, delivery records, and all required documentation.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, logistics managers, and clients regarding delivery schedules, delays, and any issues encountered on route.
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods to various destinations.
- Perform basic roadside repairs and maintenance as necessary.
- Represent the company professionally to clients and the public.
Required Skills
- Valid Class CE or C driving license (or equivalent for heavy goods vehicles)
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in long-haul trucking and operating heavy vehicles
- Impeccable driving record with no major violations
- Excellent navigation and route planning skills, with familiarity of Rwandan and East African roads
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, pushing, and pulling
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in Kinyarwanda and English
- Basic mechanical knowledge for routine vehicle checks and minor repairs
- Demonstrated reliability, responsibility, and a strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience transporting specific cargo types (e.g., hazardous materials, refrigerated goods, oversized loads)
- Certification in defensive driving or advanced driver training programs
- Familiarity with GPS tracking systems and Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs)
- First Aid certification
- Secondary school education or equivalent vocational training
