Career.supersecrets is seeking highly skilled and dependable Long-Haul Truck Drivers for various openings with our esteemed logistics partners operating out of the Nyanza region of Southern Province, Rwanda. This is an exceptional opportunity for experienced professional drivers who are passionate about safe and efficient transportation across long distances, both domestically and potentially regionally. As a Long-Haul Truck Driver, you will be a critical link in the supply chain, responsible for transporting a diverse range of cargo over extended routes. Your expertise will ensure timely deliveries, contribute to customer satisfaction, and uphold the reputation for reliability that our partners are known for. This role demands a high degree of responsibility, excellent navigation skills, and the ability to adapt to varying road conditions and schedules. You will be expected to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, manage cargo loading and unloading, and adhere strictly to all transportation laws and company policies. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy-duty trucks over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Transport goods and materials to designated locations efficiently and on schedule.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, documenting any defects or issues.
- Ensure cargo is properly secured and protected to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, mileage records, and delivery documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and other team members regarding route status, delays, or issues.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding safety, vehicle maintenance, and customer service.
- Assist with loading and unloading cargo as required, ensuring proper handling.
- Manage fuel consumption and plan routes to maximize efficiency.
- Conduct minor roadside repairs when necessary and report major issues promptly.
Required Skills
- Valid Class C or equivalent heavy vehicle driving license
- Proven experience in long-haul truck driving (articulated or heavy rigid vehicles)
- Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations in Rwanda and potentially East Africa
- Strong navigation skills and ability to read maps/GPS
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects
- Clear communication skills (Kinyarwanda, English, Swahili preferred)
- Clean driving record with no major violations
- Punctuality and reliability
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with specialized cargo (e.g., hazardous materials, refrigerated goods)
- Certificate in defensive driving or advanced driver training
- Familiarity with cross-border customs procedures within the EAC
- Mechanical aptitude for minor truck repairs
- Excellent customer service skills
