Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrician to join our dedicated team in London. At British Gas, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the electrical safety and efficiency of our customers’ homes and businesses. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve a wide range of electrical tasks, including the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. You will be responsible for fault finding and diagnostics on domestic and light commercial electrical installations, ensuring compliance with the latest wiring regulations (BS 7671, 18th Edition). This includes working on consumer units, circuits, lighting, heating systems, and smart home technologies. You will also conduct essential electrical safety checks, issuing relevant certification suchars as EICRs (Electrical Installation Condition Reports) and minor works certificates.
We are looking for someone who is not only technically proficient but also possesses excellent problem-solving abilities and strong customer service skills. Key Responsibilities
- Execute installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of domestic and light commercial electrical systems.
- Conduct thorough fault finding and diagnostic work on electrical circuits and appliances.
- Ensure all work is compliant with BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations) and relevant safety standards.
- Perform electrical safety checks and complete EICRs (Electrical Installation Condition Reports) and Minor Works Certificates.
- Install and maintain consumer units, wiring, lighting, heating controls, and smart home devices.
- Provide exceptional customer service, explaining technical issues clearly and offering solutions.
- Manage personal workload effectively, including planning routes and materials for daily jobs.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety procedures and company policies.
- Participate in an on-call rota for emergency repairs as required.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- Full UK Driving Licence (clean).
- Proven experience working as a qualified Electrician in domestic and/or light commercial settings.
- Proficiency in carrying out electrical fault diagnostics and repairs.
- Strong understanding and practical application of BS 7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection and Testing) or equivalent.
- Experience with smart home technologies and energy management systems.
- Previous experience working for a utility or home services provider.
- First Aid certification.
