Key Responsibilities
- Perform skilled diagnoses, repairs, and preventative maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other components of trucks and heavy equipment.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues accurately.
- Conduct thorough inspections and testing of vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational readiness.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and general component lubrication.
- Document all repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used accurately and completely in the maintenance management system.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and environmental regulations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding vehicle status, repair progress, and potential issues.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay current with industry advancements and new technologies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist with roadside service calls and emergency repairs as needed.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines (Cummins, Detroit Diesel, PACCAR, etc.).
- Strong understanding of heavy-duty truck electrical systems, air brake systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic software and tools effectively.
- Possession of a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety practices.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and diagnostic software.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE certifications in relevant areas (e.g., T2-T8).
- Technical degree or certification from an accredited diesel technology program.
- Experience with refrigerated trailer maintenance.
- Experience with fleet management software.
- Welding and fabrication skills.
