Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental hygiene procedures, including prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and debridement.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventative care, and the importance of maintaining good oral health.
- Take and develop accurate diagnostic radiographs (X-rays) and intra-oral photos.
- Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as permitted by state regulations and personal licensure.
- Conduct thorough dental charting and periodontal assessments, documenting findings accurately.
- Apply fluoride and sealants as prescribed by the dentist.
- Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with dentists to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming clinical environment.
Required Skills
- Valid state Dental Hygienist license for Georgia.
- CPR/BLS certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a Dental Hygienist.
- Exceptional patient communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in performing all standard dental hygiene procedures.
- Strong understanding of dental anatomy, terminology, and disease processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative dental team.
- Knowledge of dental software and electronic health records (EHR).
Preferred Qualifications
- Local Anesthesia Certification in Georgia.
- Experience with periodontal charting software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft).
- Familiarity with digital radiography systems.
