As a Carpenter with Stefanutti Stocks, you will be instrumental in bringing architectural designs to life. Your role will involve a comprehensive range of carpentry tasks, including the construction, installation, and repair of building frameworks and structures made from wood and other materials. You will be expected to work with various tools and equipment, interpret complex blueprints and schematics, and ensure that all work meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
- Erect and install various structures and fixtures, including framework, joists, sub-flooring, decking, stairs, windows, doors, and trim.
- Build and repair wooden structures such as wall frames, roofs, and door/window frames.
- Install exterior and interior finishes, including drywall, panelling, siding, and other cladding materials.
- Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently, including saws, drills, and sanders.
- Ensure all work adheres to safety regulations, building codes, and company standards.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals, including project managers, engineers, and other tradespeople.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Carpenter in a construction environment (minimum 5 years).
- Excellent knowledge of carpentry techniques and methods.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Advanced skills in operating hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations in construction.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions.
- High level of precision and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Problem-solving aptitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- NQF Level 4 Qualification in Carpentry or equivalent trade certification.
- Valid South African driver's license (Code B/08 or higher).
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with various types of construction projects (residential, commercial, industrial).
- Knowledge of various timber types and their applications.
