Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks for multiple clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Perform bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations accurately and in a timely manner.
- Process payroll, remittances, and T4/T4A filings as required.
- Prepare and file GST/HST returns, WCB reports, and other compliance documents.
- Generate comprehensive financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement) and custom reports for clients.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information and provide clear financial explanations.
- Maintain organized and accessible financial records, both physical and digital.
- Collaborate with senior accountants and tax specialists to ensure accurate financial reporting and client satisfaction.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies and proactively suggest improvements to bookkeeping processes.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of progressive bookkeeping experience.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, and Xero.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all financial record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience working in a public accounting firm or with multiple clients.
- Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations for businesses.
- Experience with advanced features of accounting software or other relevant financial tools.
- CPA designation in progress or completed.
