Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage statutory and voluntary audit engagements from planning through to completion for a diverse client portfolio.
- Supervise, coach, and mentor audit teams, ensuring high-quality work and fostering their professional development.
- Perform in-depth reviews of financial statements, internal controls, and accounting records in accordance with national (HGB) and international (IFRS) standards.
- Identify and assess audit risks, develop effective audit strategies, and implement appropriate audit procedures.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships through effective communication and proactive problem-solving.
- Prepare comprehensive audit reports, management letters, and other communications for clients and stakeholders.
- Manage engagement budgets and timelines efficiently to ensure project profitability and timely delivery.
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, audit methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to business development initiatives and internal firm projects as required.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in external audit within a reputable accounting firm
- Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken (C1 level or higher)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Wirtschaftsprüfer (WP) qualification, or actively pursuing it
- Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI) in an audit context
- Specialized industry experience (e.g., Financial Services, Automotive, Technology)
