Job Description

Schmittinger and Rodriguez, P.A. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Attorney to join our dynamic legal team in Dover, Delaware. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated legal professional to manage a diverse caseload, represent clients in various legal proceedings, and contribute significantly to our firm’s long-standing tradition of excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of legal principles, exceptional courtroom presence, and a deep commitment to client advocacy. You will work closely with senior partners and a supportive administrative staff, handling all aspects of litigation from initial client consultation through trial and appeal. This role demands a proactive approach, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced legal environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload from inception to resolution, including personal injury, workers' compensation, civil litigation, or other relevant practice areas.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.
  • Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, arbitrations, mediations, and trials.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients, striving for the best possible outcomes.
  • Provide clear, concise, and timely legal advice to clients, ensuring they are well-informed at every stage of their case.
  • Collaborate with legal support staff, paralegals, and other attorneys to ensure efficient case management.
  • Stay current with changes in relevant laws and regulations.

Required Skills

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the Delaware State Bar.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience practicing law, preferably in civil litigation, personal injury, or workers' compensation.
  • Proven track record of successful case management and client representation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong advocacy abilities.
  • Superior analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative legal team.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in legal research software (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience with trial preparation and courtroom advocacy.
  • Existing professional network within the Delaware legal community.
