Big Delicious Planet Catering & Events is seeking dedicated Event Setup Crew members to join our esteemed team in Bucktown, Chicago. As an essential part of our operations, you will be responsible for the seamless execution of event logistics, from meticulous setup to efficient breakdown. You’ll work closely with our Event Production and Culinary teams, ensuring every detail aligns with our high standards and client expectations. Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload event equipment, including tables, chairs, linens, kitchen equipment, decor, and other items, onto and off trucks and vans.
- Transport event materials safely and efficiently to various event venues across the Chicago metropolitan area.
- Set up event spaces according to floor plans, ensuring precise placement of all items, proper table settings, and decor arrangements.
- Dismantle event setups efficiently and carefully, ensuring all equipment is accounted for and packed properly for transport.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all equipment, storage areas, and company vehicles.
- Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
- Communicate effectively with Event Managers, other crew members, and clients on-site to ensure smooth operations.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company guidelines during setup, breakdown, and transport.
- Assist with inventory management and reporting any damaged or missing items.
- Represent Big Delicious Planet with professionalism and a positive attitude at all times.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by event schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in event setup, catering, warehouse, or a related physically demanding role.
- Experience driving commercial vans or box trucks.
- Basic knowledge of audio-visual equipment setup.
- Forklift certification or experience operating similar equipment.
