Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Event Assistant with a primary focus on venue setup to join our dynamic team at Pelican Hotel Ikosi. Key Responsibilities
- Execute precise setup and breakdown of event venues according to detailed floor plans and client specifications.
- Arrange tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, and other furniture as required for various event types.
- Assist with the setup and testing of audio-visual equipment, lighting, and sound systems under supervision.
- Coordinate with the F&B team for appropriate table settings, linen, and service station arrangements.
- Place decor elements, signage, and promotional materials accurately and aesthetically.
- Ensure all event spaces are clean, tidy, and presentable before, during, and after events.
- Assist with inventory management of event equipment and report any damages or shortages.
- Provide on-site support during events as needed, including minor adjustments and client requests.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and operational guidelines established by the hotel.
- Collaborate effectively with the events team, external vendors, and other hotel departments.
Required Skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 25 kg / 55 lbs)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Basic understanding of event setup procedures
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive and problem-solving attitude
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in hospitality, event setup, or a similar physically demanding role
- High School Diploma or equivalent; a diploma or certificate in Hospitality or Event Management is a plus
- Familiarity with various event equipment and venue management software
- First Aid and Safety certification
