Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Essential Oil Production Manager to remotely oversee our essential oil extraction and processing operations. This critical role ensures the seamless production of high-quality essential oils from indigenous Fynbos and other botanical sources, maintaining our rigorous standards for purity, efficacy, and sustainability. As a remote manager, you will be instrumental in optimizing production processes, managing a distributed team, implementing stringent quality control measures, and ensuring compliance with all relevant industry regulations from your home office. While your primary work model is remote, periodic on-site visits to our various sourcing and processing partners across the Western Cape will be required to ensure operational excellence and foster strong relationships. You will champion innovation in extraction techniques and contribute significantly to our product development pipeline, ensuring Cape Kingdom Nutraceuticals remains at the forefront of natural health solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement essential oil production strategies and operational plans that align with company goals and sustainability targets.
- Oversee all aspects of the essential oil extraction process, from raw material sourcing and preparation to distillation, extraction, purification, and final product packaging.
- Manage a remote team of production staff, ensuring high performance, continuous training, and strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental protocols.
- Establish and maintain rigorous quality control standards for all essential oil products, ensuring purity, potency, and compliance with national and international regulations (e.g., ISO, GMP).
- Optimize production workflows, identify areas for efficiency improvements, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising product quality or environmental integrity.
- Manage raw material inventory, production scheduling, and logistics to meet demand forecasts and minimize waste.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations in all production activities and facilities.
- Conduct regular audits of production facilities and processes, implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
- Research, evaluate, and integrate innovative extraction technologies and sustainable practices to enhance product quality and environmental footprint.
- Prepare detailed production reports, analyze key performance metrics, and present findings and recommendations to senior management.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in essential oil production, botanical extraction, or a related field.
- Strong technical understanding of various extraction methods including steam distillation, hydro-distillation, solvent extraction, and CO2 extraction.
- Demonstrated leadership and remote team management capabilities, with a track record of motivating and developing staff.
- Excellent knowledge of quality control standards (ISO, GMP) and regulatory compliance pertaining to natural products and essential oils.
- Proficiency in production planning, inventory management, and supply chain logistics.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills with a focus on process optimization.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for remote collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership.
- Proficiency with project management software, remote collaboration tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong commitment to sustainable practices and ethical sourcing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Pharmacy, Botany, or a related scientific discipline.
- Specific certifications in essential oil safety, quality management, or sustainable agriculture.
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) or similar data management tools.
- Knowledge of indigenous South African flora and their potential for essential oil production.
- Track record of successful new product development or process innovation in the natural products industry.
