Job Description

Ramboll is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Environmental Consultant to join our dynamic Environment & Health team in London. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong foundation in environmental consulting to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects across various sectors, including infrastructure, property, and energy. You will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality environmental assessments, managing regulatory compliance, and advising clients on best practices to minimize environmental risks and enhance sustainability outcomes. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and contribute to environmental statements for a variety of development projects.
  • Undertake site investigations, data analysis, and interpret findings related to ecology, air quality, noise, water, and contaminated land.
  • Prepare high-quality environmental reports, technical notes, and other deliverables, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and client specifications.
  • Provide expert advice to clients on environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and sustainable development strategies.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Support project managers in proposal writing, project planning, and budget management.
  • Stay abreast of evolving environmental legislation, best practices, and industry trends.
  • Participate in site visits, fieldwork, and client meetings as required.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in environmental consulting or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation, policy, and guidance (e.g., EIA Regulations).
  • Proven experience in contributing to or managing Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex environmental information clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A Bachelor's degree (2:1 or higher) in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Geography, or a related discipline.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel for site visits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in a relevant environmental discipline.
  • Membership or working towards membership with a professional body such as IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment) or CIWEM (Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management).
  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for data analysis and mapping.
  • Familiarity with specific environmental assessment methodologies (e.g., SEA, HRA).
  • Experience across multiple environmental disciplines (e.g., contaminated land, ecology, water, air quality).
