Key Responsibilities
- Monitor network performance and availability, identifying and reporting potential issues.
- Assist in the basic troubleshooting and resolution of network-related problems, including connectivity issues.
- Support the configuration and maintenance of network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls under supervision.
- Participate in the documentation of network infrastructure, changes, and operational procedures.
- Provide technical support and assistance to internal users, escalating complex issues to senior administrators.
- Assist with routine network maintenance tasks, including system upgrades and patching.
- Learn and apply best practices in network security and data integrity.
- Collaborate with other IT team members on various projects and initiatives.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
- Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- Entry-level networking certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) – even in progress.
- Prior exposure to network monitoring tools and ticketing systems (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Jira).
- Understanding of ITIL principles for IT service management.
