Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Engineer – Site Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Jakande Estate, Lekki. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily on-site operations, ensuring that construction projects are executed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to effectively manage site personnel, subcontractors, and resources. You will play a critical role in the successful completion of our diverse range of projects, from residential developments to commercial complexes and crucial infrastructure works. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring strict adherence to project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or issues, and implement proactive corrective actions to maintain schedules.
- Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, local building codes, and company policies.
- Manage and coordinate site personnel, including artisans, laborers, and subcontractors, fostering a productive and safe work environment.
- Conduct regular and thorough site inspections to verify work quality and identify any deviations from design or specifications.
- Prepare accurate daily and weekly progress reports, detailing resource utilization, work accomplished, and issues encountered.
- Liaise effectively with project managers, clients, consultants, and local authorities, maintaining clear communication channels.
- Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and security of site equipment, tools, and construction materials.
- Assist in the procurement, inventory management, and tracking of materials and resources to ensure timely availability and minimize waste.
- Participate actively in site meetings, contributing to problem-solving, risk assessment, and decision-making processes.
- Implement and enforce rigorous quality control procedures throughout the construction process, from foundation to finish.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven, hands-on experience as a Site Supervisor or a similar supervisory role in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, and comprehensive safety regulations (OSHA, local standards).
- Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and working with blueprints, schematics, and detailed construction drawings.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to motivate teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently, prioritize effectively, and perform under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical decision-making abilities, especially in fast-paced site environments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic project management software applications.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as an integral part of a larger project team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registration with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) or other relevant professional bodies.
- Experience with advanced project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD).
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
- Possession of a valid Nigerian driver's license with a clean driving record.
