Wenona School is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and innovative Elementary School Teacher (Primary School Teacher in the Australian context) to join our esteemed Junior School faculty. This full-time position offers an exceptional opportunity to inspire and guide young minds within a supportive and forward-thinking educational environment. As an Elementary School Teacher at Wenona, you will be instrumental in delivering the New South Wales Primary Curriculum (K-6), ensuring a rich and engaging learning experience that aligns with our commitment to academic excellence and student-centered pedagogy. You will design and implement creative and differentiated lesson plans across various key learning areas, including English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, HSIE, Creative Arts, and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE).
Your role will extend beyond curriculum delivery; you will be responsible for fostering a positive and inclusive classroom culture where every student feels valued, challenged, and supported. This includes employing effective classroom management strategies, promoting positive behaviour, and nurturing students’ social-emotional development. You will regularly assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and communicate effectively with parents/guardians about their child’s development and achievements. Collaboration with colleagues, specialists, and the broader school community is a vital aspect of this role, contributing to a cohesive and enriching educational journey for our students. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons aligned with the NSW Primary Curriculum (K-6).
- Assess student learning effectively, provide timely feedback, and report on student progress to parents/guardians.
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that fosters student well-being and academic growth.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote respect, responsibility, and self-regulation.
- Collaborate with colleagues, specialist teachers, and the Junior School leadership team to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
- Actively participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school's co-curricular program.
- Communicate regularly and constructively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and school activities.
- Integrate educational technology effectively to enhance learning experiences and student engagement.
- Provide pastoral care and support to students, addressing their social and emotional needs.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Education (Primary) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
- Current NESA (NSW Education Standards Authority) accreditation or eligibility for accreditation.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching primary-aged students within an Australian curriculum framework.
- Strong understanding and practical application of the NSW Primary Curriculum.
- Excellent classroom management skills and ability to create a positive learning environment.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in integrating educational technology into teaching and learning.
- Commitment to student well-being, inclusive practices, and differentiated instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an independent school setting.
- Proven ability to integrate inquiry-based learning approaches.
- Familiarity with specific educational programs or methodologies (e.g., Visible Learning).

- First Aid and CPR certification.
