Job Description
AISM is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and highly qualified Elementary School Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a stimulating and engaging learning environment for students in the primary years, adhering to the principles and practices of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). This role involves developing and delivering inquiry-based, concept-driven units of study that cater to the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of young learners. The Elementary School Teacher will be a key player in fostering a child-centered approach, promoting international-mindedness, and ensuring that every student feels valued, challenged, and supported in their educational journey. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about education, collaborative by nature, and committed to continuous professional growth within a multicultural school setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with the IB PYP framework and AISM's curriculum standards.
- Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative methods, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that promotes student agency and well-being.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including those with learning support requirements and English Language Learners.
- Collaborate effectively with grade-level teams, specialist teachers, and other staff members to ensure a cohesive educational program.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and school events.
- Actively participate in professional development opportunities, faculty meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
- Integrate technology thoughtfully into the curriculum to enhance learning experiences.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times, ensuring their safety and adherence to school policies.
- Contribute to the broader school community through participation in extracurricular activities or committees.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid teaching certification/license from country of origin.
- Minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience in an elementary school setting.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of inquiry-based learning methodologies.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in educational technology and its integration into the curriculum.
- Commitment to student-centered learning and a growth mindset.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education or a relevant specialization.
- Experience teaching within an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) school.
- Experience living and working internationally.
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction and supporting English Language Learners.
- Proficiency in Portuguese or other languages.
