G&A Electrical & Plumbing Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Qualified Electrician to join our dynamic team in Ixopo, KwaZulu-Natal. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to apply their expertise in a varied and challenging environment. As a Qualified Electrician, you will be responsible for a wide range of electrical tasks, from new installations and routine maintenance to complex troubleshooting and essential repairs across residential, commercial, and light industrial settings. Your daily duties will involve meticulous inspection of electrical systems, diagnosing faults, performing upgrades, and ensuring all work is executed with precision and a keen eye for detail. You will be instrumental in ensuring that all electrical work adheres strictly to national safety standards and local regulations, specifically the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act) and SANS 10142-1 (Wiring Code), providing our clients with safe, efficient, and reliable electrical systems that meet their needs and expectations. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical problems in various settings (residential, commercial, industrial).
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act) and all relevant SANS (South African National Standards) regulations.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, circuit diagrams, and other technical documents.
- Install electrical control and distribution apparatus.
- Provide accurate estimates for electrical work and materials.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Safely operate hand and power tools, and testing equipment.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures at all times.
- Communicate effectively with clients, explaining technical issues in an understandable manner.
Required Skills
- Valid Electrical Trade Test Certificate (e.g., NQF Level 4 Electrician).
- Wireman's License (Single Phase and/or Three Phase).
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience as an Electrician.
- Proven knowledge of the OHS Act and SANS 10142-1 (Wiring Code).
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Excellent manual dexterity and physical stamina.
- Valid South African Driver's License (Code B or higher).
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with solar panel installation and maintenance.
- Additional certifications in specialized electrical fields (e.g., fault finding, industrial control systems).
- Experience in both domestic and commercial environments.
- Strong customer service orientation.
