Julius Berger Nigeria Plc is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrician to join our dynamic team on a contract basis, focusing on household and office electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs within the Ketti area of Abuja. As a Contractor Electrician, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, from troubleshooting complex electrical systems in residential and commercial settings to installing new wiring, fixtures, and appliances. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment in residential and commercial buildings.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing devices and diagnostic tools.
- Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and specifications to accurately determine the layout and requirements of electrical installations.
- Connect electrical power to residential and commercial equipment, ensuring proper grounding, load balancing, and overall electrical safety.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems to minimize breakdowns and ensure continuous operation.
- Adhere strictly to all national and local electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies, ensuring full compliance at all times.
- Install and maintain power, lighting, and control systems, including switches, circuit breakers, and distribution panels.
- Complete work orders and record all material usage and time spent on tasks accurately for documentation and billing purposes.
- Provide technical support and guidance to clients and team members as required, explaining issues and solutions clearly.
- Ensure all work areas are clean, tidy, and safe upon completion of tasks, adhering to site clean-up protocols.
- Recommend upgrades or repairs to improve electrical system efficiency, safety, and longevity.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair techniques for both AC and DC systems.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian electrical codes (e.g., Nigerian Electrical Safety Standards) and industry best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals with precision.
- Expertise in using various hand and power tools common to the electrical trade safely and effectively.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to identify and resolve complex electrical issues.
- Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout protocols.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Valid professional electrician certification or license (e.g., from a recognized technical board or regulatory body).
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Trade Test Certificate in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Installation.
