Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in diverse residential settings.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical malfunctions and system failures using appropriate advanced testing devices.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems to ensure ongoing compliance with safety standards and optimal performance.
- Upgrade and replace electrical panels, circuit breakers, and wiring to meet increased power demands or current regulatory requirements.
- Install and connect electrical power to new appliances, equipment, and sophisticated home systems.
- Accurately read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine precise wiring layouts.
- Ensure all work is performed in strict accordance with SANS 10142-1 (The wiring of premises) regulations and all relevant local electrical codes.
- Provide clear, concise, and professional explanations of electrical issues and proposed solutions to homeowners.
- Estimate costs for materials and labour for various domestic electrical projects, ensuring transparency.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of work performed, materials used, and hours worked for each project.
- Respond to emergency electrical call-outs promptly and efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum safety.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, promoting a culture of safety on site.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Domestic Electrician with a robust portfolio of completed residential projects.
- Valid Wireman's License (Red Seal Certificate) or an equivalent qualification officially recognised in South Africa.
- Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methodologies, and all related components.
- Proficiency in interpreting complex electrical blueprints, technical diagrams, and construction plans.
- Strong and up-to-date understanding of SANS 10142-1 regulations and other pertinent electrical codes.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving abilities, capable of resolving intricate electrical issues.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and manage time effectively.
- Strong verbal communication and refined interpersonal skills for effective client and team interaction.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Unwavering commitment to safety protocols and delivering superior quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- N3 or N4 Electrical Engineering Certificate.
- Specialised training or certification in specific areas such as solar PV installations, smart home systems, or energy efficiency audits.
- Experience with client management and project estimation software platforms.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Fluency in local languages (e.g., Setswana, Afrikaans) in addition to English to better serve our diverse client base.
