Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test electrical systems and components for various projects, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations (e.g., IEC, IEEE, local codes).
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings, specifications, schematics, and single-line diagrams using CAD software.
- Conduct power system analysis, including load flow, short circuit, and protective device coordination studies.
- Perform calculations for cable sizing, voltage drop, lighting levels, and earthing systems.
- Oversee the installation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical issues, providing effective and timely solutions.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and cost estimates.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, materials, and methods in electrical engineering to propose innovative solutions.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company and regulatory health and safety procedures.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
- Strong understanding of power systems, electrical machines, and control systems.
- Knowledge of relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 70, BS 7671, IEC).
- Experience with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Project management fundamentals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Professional engineering license (COREN registration preferred).
- Experience with renewable energy systems (solar, wind) or smart grid technologies.
