Job Description
Alghanim International is actively seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and experienced Electrical Engineer with a specialized focus on infrastructure projects to join our dynamic team in Kuwait. The ideal candidate will possess a strong and proven background in the comprehensive design, meticulous supervision, and efficient execution of complex electrical systems for large-scale infrastructure developments. This includes, but is not limited to, urban utility networks, industrial facilities, public works, and specialized building infrastructure. This pivotal role demands a proactive individual capable of managing critical aspects of the project lifecycle, from initial conceptualization and detailed design phases through to commissioning, testing, and final handover. You will be instrumental in ensuring that all electrical works strictly comply with international engineering standards, relevant local regulations (such as MEW specifications), and precise client specifications. Your contributions will directly impact the successful, safe, and timely delivery of our challenging and impactful projects across Kuwait. You will collaborate extensively with multidisciplinary teams, external consultants, and contractors to uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency throughout all project stages. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop comprehensive electrical engineering plans, single-line diagrams, schematics, and detailed specifications for diverse infrastructure projects, encompassing power distribution, lighting systems, earthing and lightning protection, and various low current systems.
- Perform meticulous calculations for load analysis, voltage drop, short circuit current, and coordination studies to ensure system integrity and safety.
- Review and approve vendor submittals, material specifications, and technical data sheets, verifying strict compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and local regulations.
- Provide on-site supervision and conduct regular inspections of electrical installations, ensuring rigorous adherence to design specifications, quality control standards, and safety protocols.
- Coordinate effectively with other engineering disciplines (civil, mechanical, architectural) to seamlessly integrate electrical systems into overall project designs and ensure inter-disciplinary compatibility.
- Prepare accurate technical reports, comprehensive project documentation, and regular progress updates for internal management and external clients.
- Conduct thorough feasibility studies, detailed risk assessments, and precise cost estimations for all electrical components within infrastructure projects.
- Ensure all electrical designs and installations strictly comply with relevant local (e.g., Ministry of Electricity and Water – MEW) and international codes (e.g., IEC, NFPA, IEEE).
- Actively participate in commissioning, testing, and handover processes, providing essential technical support and effective troubleshooting as required.
- Mentor junior engineers, offering guidance and contributing to the professional development and growth of the team.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, Dialux, or similar tools.
- In-depth knowledge and practical application of international electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, NFPA 70/NEC, IEEE).
- Strong understanding of power generation, transmission, distribution systems, and associated equipment.
- Extensive experience with medium voltage and low voltage switchgear, transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), and protective relays.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, consistently meeting tight deadlines.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential for technical documentation and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Possession of a Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent professional certification.
- Demonstrated experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools for electrical design.
- Specific project experience in power plants, substations, large-scale utility networks, or critical industrial infrastructure.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local Kuwaiti regulations, utility standards, and permitting processes (e.g., MEW specifications).
- Proficiency in Arabic is considered a significant advantage.
