We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and highly skilled Teacher to join our esteemed faculty at Ugie High School. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the national curriculum and Ugie High School's educational philosophy.
- Utilize a hybrid teaching model, effectively integrating in-person classroom instruction with digital learning tools and online resources to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure continuity of education.
- Assess student progress regularly through various methods, providing constructive feedback, preparing detailed reports, and adapting teaching strategies as needed to optimize learning outcomes.
- Maintain a positive, disciplined, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, active participation, and intellectual curiosity among students.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and community stakeholders to support holistic student development and well-being.
- Actively participate in professional development opportunities, school meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and extra-curricular activities to enrich the school community.
- Manage classroom resources and technology effectively to enhance learning experiences and ensure a well-equipped educational setting.
- Prepare students rigorously for examinations, standardized assessments, and future educational pathways, including tertiary education and vocational training.
- Provide pastoral care and mentorship to students, fostering their social, emotional, and personal growth alongside their academic achievements.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or a relevant academic field from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
- Proven experience of at least 2 years in teaching at secondary or primary level within the South African education system.
- Proficiency in modern educational technology, including Learning Management Systems (LMS) and blended learning platforms.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Strong classroom management abilities, capable of fostering a productive and respectful learning environment.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or an equivalent advanced qualification.
- Demonstrated experience with specific learning management systems such as Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, or similar platforms.
- Specialization or strong competency in a high-demand subject area, such as Mathematics, Physical Sciences, English First Additional Language, or Technology.
- Experience in coordinating or leading extracurricular activities, clubs, or school events.
- Fluency in an additional official South African language, particularly isiXhosa or Afrikaans, prevalent in the Eastern Cape region.
