Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload baggage, cargo, and mail from aircraft, ensuring proper weight distribution and security.
- Operate various ground support equipment (GSE) such as baggage tugs, belt loaders, pushback tractors, and aircraft stairs, adhering to strict safety guidelines.
- Guide aircraft to and from gates using visual signals (marshalling) in a safe and efficient manner.
- Place and remove aircraft chocks, safety cones, and connect/disconnect ground power units.
- Perform pre-operation and post-operation checks on ground support equipment.
- Handle baggage and cargo with care, ensuring accurate sorting and transfer.
- Adhere to all company safety procedures, airport regulations, and security requirements at all times.
- Communicate effectively with flight crews, gate agents, and other team members using two-way radios.
- Participate in de-icing operations during winter months, if required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment on the ramp and around equipment.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) and all necessary airport operating permits.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift up to 70 lbs (32 kg) repeatedly and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety, security, and operational procedures.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic English communication skills (verbal and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an airport environment or a physically demanding role (e.g., warehouse, logistics, construction).
- Experience operating heavy machinery or ground support equipment.
- Familiarity with aviation terminology and procedures.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
