Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in and successfully complete all aspects of the provided driver training program.
- Learn and adhere to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies and procedures.
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently under supervision during training, and independently post-training.
- Develop skills in vehicle inspection, basic maintenance checks, and reporting mechanical issues promptly.
- Practice effective route planning and time management to ensure timely deliveries.
- Learn proper load securement techniques to prevent damage and ensure safety.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and delivery documentation.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Required Skills
- Valid Code B or C1 driver's license (or equivalent, relevant to SA light/medium commercial vehicles).
- Clean driving record (minimal to no infractions).
- Strong work ethic and a desire to learn.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently after training.
- Physical fitness to handle driving tasks and occasional manual loading/unloading.
- Residency in or near Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in any customer service or logistics-related role.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or interest in vehicle maintenance.
- First Aid certification.
- Familiarity with the Empangeni and surrounding KwaZulu-Natal road network.
- Proof of successful completion of a defensive driving course (even if basic).
