Toll Group is seeking dedicated and skilled Drivers to join our dynamic team in Sydney. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with experience in either private or commercial driving to transition into a robust commercial logistics environment. As a Commercial Driver, you will be a vital link in our extensive supply chain, responsible for the safe and timely transportation of a variety of goods across metropolitan Sydney and regional areas as required. You will operate modern vehicles, adhere to strict safety regulations, and maintain the highest standards of professionalism and customer service. This position requires a strong commitment to punctuality, vehicle maintenance, and compliance with all road transport laws. We are looking for individuals who are not just drivers, but proactive team members who can contribute to our mission of delivering excellence. Your day will involve route planning, vehicle inspections, loading/unloading assistance, and ensuring all documentation is accurately completed. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate various commercial vehicles (e.g., vans, rigid trucks, heavy rigid trucks) for the transportation of goods.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or maintenance issues promptly.
- Adhere to all road transport legislation, company policies, and safety procedures.
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery and collection of freight, meeting scheduled deadlines.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of goods, ensuring secure and safe handling.
- Complete all necessary paperwork, including delivery manifests, logbooks, and incident reports accurately.
- Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle, representing Toll Group professionally at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members.
- Manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules and comply with fatigue management regulations.
Required Skills
- Current and valid Australian Driver's License (minimum Class HR or HC preferred for commercial roles).
- Clean driving record with no major infringements.
- Demonstrated experience in a driving role, either private chauffeur or commercial freight.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and fatigue management.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks and lift heavy items safely.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) license endorsement.
- Experience with Dangerous Goods (DG) transportation and relevant endorsements.
- Forklift license (LF class).
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in using GPS and logistics software applications.
- First Aid certificate.
