GIG Logistics is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and safety-conscious Driver to join our dynamic team based in Marina, Lagos Island. As a Driver, you will be primarily responsible for the safe and efficient transportation and delivery of a wide array of goods, packages, and documents across various routes within Lagos and its environs. You will adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety protocols, and delivery schedules, ensuring every item reaches its destination securely and on time. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport goods, packages, and documents to designated locations within Lagos and surrounding areas, following established routes and schedules.
- Adhere strictly to all national traffic laws, road signs, and company driving policies and procedures at all times.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes, ensuring they are in excellent working condition.
- Promptly report any vehicle defects, malfunctions, accidents, or incidents to the fleet management team or direct supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage covered, fuel consumption, delivery times, and any discrepancies.
- Assist with the careful loading and unloading of packages as needed, ensuring proper handling, securing, and safety of goods.
- Provide excellent customer service during pickups and deliveries, representing GIG Logistics professionally and courteously.
- Plan and execute efficient routes to minimize delays, optimize delivery schedules, and conserve fuel.
- Ensure the cleanliness and regular maintenance of the assigned vehicle, both interior and exterior.
- Manage and prioritize daily delivery tasks effectively to meet all assigned targets and deadlines.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class E or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable professional driving experience in Lagos.
- Thorough knowledge of Lagos road networks, traffic patterns, and alternative routes.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to adhere to strict schedules.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with colleagues and customers.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks (e.g., oil levels, tire pressure, fluid levels).
- Physical fitness and ability to lift and carry packages as required.
- High level of responsibility, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Experience driving commercial vehicles (vans, light trucks) in a logistics or courier setting.
- Knowledge of basic logistics and supply chain operations.
