Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate company-provided vehicles for the transport and delivery of goods and packages.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries, utilizing navigation tools as needed.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal working condition and reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
- Load and unload goods carefully, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, interacting professionally and courteously with clients and recipients.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good appearance of the company vehicle.
- Assist with warehouse duties or other tasks as assigned when not on delivery routes.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver’s License (relevant class for commercial vehicles).
- Minimum of 2 years of proven professional driving experience, preferably in a logistics or delivery capacity.
- Clean driving record with no major accidents or violations.
- Thorough knowledge of Abuja road networks and surrounding areas.
- Ability to operate vehicles safely under various weather conditions.
- Physical stamina to lift and move heavy packages (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to meet delivery schedules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with customers and colleagues.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- Experience using GPS devices and route optimization software.
- Prior experience with handheld delivery devices or logistics applications.
- First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
