Career.supersecrets is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Driver to join our logistics and delivery team in Gwagwalada, Abuja. This pivotal role involves the safe and timely transportation of goods, documents, and parcels across specified routes within Gwagwalada and surrounding areas, utilizing a company-provided vehicle. As a Driver, you will be the face of our operational efficiency, ensuring that every delivery is handled with professionalism, care, and punctuality. We are looking for an individual with an impeccable driving record, a strong understanding of local traffic laws and routes, and a commitment to maintaining vehicle integrity and safety standards.
Your day-to-day will involve executing pre-planned delivery schedules, but also adapting to dynamic routing as operational needs dictate. You will be responsible for loading and unloading items, verifying shipment contents against delivery notes, and obtaining appropriate signatures. Maintaining clear communication with our logistics coordinators and customers will be crucial for effective service delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles (vans, light trucks) for the transportation of goods, documents, and parcels.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road signs, and company safety regulations.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries and pick-ups within Gwagwalada and neighboring areas.
- Load and unload items, ensuring proper handling, securing, and documentation of all shipments.
- Verify contents of shipments against invoices or manifests, obtaining customer signatures upon delivery.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance needs or defects promptly.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good operating condition of the company vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with logistics coordinators, customers, and other team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Handle cash or electronic payments as required, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Assist in warehouse operations during downtimes, if required, including sorting and organizing.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class G minimum)
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in logistics or delivery.
- Profound knowledge of Gwagwalada, Abuja roads and traffic regulations.
- Excellent defensive driving skills and a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 25 kg.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity, reliability, and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- SSCE (Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination) or equivalent.
