This pivotal role involves operating a company-provided vehicle to transport goods, documents, and personnel efficiently and securely across various designated routes. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate company vehicles for the delivery and pickup of goods, documents, and personnel across Central Area, Abuja and its environs.
- Plan and execute optimal routes using navigation tools to ensure timely deliveries and minimize fuel consumption.
- Conduct daily pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any mechanical issues or damage promptly.
- Ensure all delivered items are signed for correctly and returned goods are accurately recorded.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good operating condition of the company vehicle.
- Assist with loading and unloading items as required, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Handle cash payments or sensitive documents with utmost integrity and discretion, if applicable.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance.
- Represent the company professionally and courteously at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class B or higher)
- Minimum of 2 years professional driving experience in Abuja
- Excellent knowledge of Abuja road networks and traffic patterns
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques
- Ability to read and understand maps and use GPS navigation systems effectively
- Good verbal communication skills in English
- Punctual, reliable, and trustworthy with a strong sense of responsibility
- Physical fitness to load/unload goods and perform vehicle inspections
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in courier, logistics, or commercial delivery services
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge (e.g., checking oil, water, tire pressure)
- Ability to speak local languages (e.g., Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo)
