Career.supersecrets is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Driver to join our network of top-tier talent for a logistics and delivery role in Dutse Alhaji, Abuja. As a Driver for logistics and delivery, you will be the face of our client’s operations on the road. Your daily tasks will involve meticulously planning delivery routes, inspecting vehicles for safety and maintenance, loading and unloading items, and maintaining accurate delivery records. This role requires not just driving proficiency but also a keen eye for detail, problem-solving abilities, and a customer-centric approach to interactions. You will be expected to operate various types of vehicles, adhere strictly to traffic laws and company policies, and represent the organization with professionalism at all times. The ideal candidate will possess an unblemished driving record, a deep understanding of Abuja’s road network, and a proactive attitude towards vehicle maintenance and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods, documents, or personnel to designated locations.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for deliveries, considering traffic and road conditions.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring it is in excellent working condition.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules.
- Load and unload items, ensuring proper handling and securing of goods to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and colleagues regarding delivery status or any issues encountered.
- Handle all paperwork related to deliveries, including waybills, invoices, and delivery notes.
- Perform minor vehicle maintenance tasks, such as checking oil, tires, and water levels, and reporting any significant mechanical issues promptly.
- Represent the company professionally and courteously at all times while interacting with clients and the public.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver’s License (Class E or equivalent)
- Proven experience as a professional driver in logistics or delivery services
- Excellent knowledge of Abuja road networks and traffic regulations
- Strong defensive driving skills and a clean driving record
- Ability to operate and maintain company vehicles responsibly
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
- Physical fitness and stamina to handle loading/unloading tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent
- Experience with GPS navigation systems and mobile delivery applications
- First Aid and Safety training certification
- Professional driving certification from a recognized institution
- Familiarity with various types of delivery vehicles (vans, trucks)
