Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate company vehicles for the transportation and delivery of goods.
- Perform comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal working condition and reporting any issues promptly.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries, utilizing navigation tools and local knowledge to optimize travel.
- Accurately load, unload, and secure goods, ensuring proper handling and protection against damage during transit.
- Maintain precise delivery logs, records, and documentation, including obtaining appropriate signatures for proof of delivery.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or any unforeseen issues.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies at all times.
- Represent the company professionally and courteously during all interactions with clients, vendors, and the public.
- Handle cash or electronic payments as required, ensuring accuracy and proper reconciliation.
- Assist with warehouse duties, sorting, or other operational tasks during periods of low delivery volume.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver’s License (Class E/G or equivalent) with a demonstrably clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable professional driving experience, preferably in logistics, courier, or delivery services.
- In-depth knowledge of Karu, Abuja, and surrounding road networks and traffic patterns.
- Excellent time management, punctuality, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to operate and maintain various types of delivery vehicles responsibly.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move packages up to 25kg, and endure long hours of driving and physical activity.
- Proficiency in using GPS devices, map applications, and basic mobile technology for communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent educational background.
- Experience operating cargo vans or light-duty trucks.
- Valid defensive driving certification or attendance at a certified driving safety course.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics for minor troubleshooting and routine maintenance checks.
- Previous experience interacting directly with customers in a delivery or service role.
