Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods to various locations within Gwagwalada, Abuja, and surrounding areas.
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations at all times.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the company vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues or defects promptly.
- Ensure accurate loading, unloading, and securement of goods, preventing damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and other essential documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and internal staff regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Handle cash payments or obtain signatures for delivered goods as required.
- Keep the company vehicle clean and tidy, performing basic maintenance checks as needed.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries, adapting to traffic and road conditions.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, representing the company professionally.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Class E Driver's License (or equivalent for commercial vehicles)
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in logistics or delivery.
- Clean driving record with no history of major accidents or traffic violations.
- Thorough knowledge of Abuja road networks, particularly Gwagwalada and environs.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, GPS devices, and delivery manifests.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading of goods and prolonged driving.
Preferred Qualifications
- Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent.
- Experience with courier services or FMCG distribution.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.
