You will be expected to conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensure vehicle cleanliness, and report any mechanical issues promptly. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles (vans, trucks) to transport goods to designated locations.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report any defects or maintenance needs immediately.
- Ensure goods are loaded, secured, and unloaded carefully to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records of mileage, fuel consumption, and expenses.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse, and clients regarding delivery status or any issues encountered.
- Assist with loading and unloading goods as required, ensuring proper handling procedures.
- Keep the vehicle clean and tidy, both inside and out.
- Manage time efficiently to meet delivery schedules and deadlines.
- Represent the company professionally and courteously to clients and the public.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver’s License (Class G minimum)
- Proven experience as a professional driver, preferably in logistics or commercial delivery
- Excellent knowledge of Lagos road networks and traffic regulations
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and basic troubleshooting
- Ability to operate GPS devices and navigation applications
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of punctuality and reliability
- Ability to lift and move heavy items as required
- Clean driving record with no major violations
Preferred Qualifications
- SSCE/GCE/NECO or equivalent educational qualification
- Experience with different types of commercial vehicles (e.g., panel vans, light trucks)
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) or digital dispatch systems
- Basic first aid knowledge
