Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport goods to designated locations following planned routes and schedules.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, promptly reporting any defects, damages, or maintenance issues.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing, handling, and documentation to prevent damage or loss.
- Adhere strictly to all national and local traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations at all times.
- Maintain accurate and detailed delivery records, trip logs, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance reports.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status, potential delays, or any unforeseen challenges.
- Ensure the cleanliness, tidiness, and good working order of the company vehicle.
- Assist with other logistical and operational tasks as required by the operations management team to ensure smooth workflow.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class E or G, depending on vehicle type).
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable professional driving experience, preferably in logistics or commercial goods transport.
- Excellent knowledge of Lagos road networks, traffic regulations, and alternative routes.
- Proven track record of safe driving practices, responsible vehicle operation, and consistent adherence to schedules.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 50kg) and perform manual tasks associated with loading/unloading.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience driving various types of commercial vehicles (e.g., vans, light trucks, heavy-duty trucks).
- Certificate in Defensive Driving or similar road safety training.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route optimization software.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting and emergency repairs.
- Prior experience working specifically within a logistics or courier service company.
